Evawani Ellisa pursued her doctoral study at Urban and Environmental Design Laboratory, Department of Environmental Engineering Osaka University, Japan in 1999. Her dissertation focused on issue of urban transformation and livability of inner city area in Indonesian big cities. Now she teaches Architectural Design Studio and Urban Design at Department of Architecture Universitas Indonesia. From 2011, she worked in collaboration with Japanese Universities to conduct the activities for upgrading the informal urban settlements of Kampung Cikini, Central Jakarta using both micro and macro scale approach. The micro scale practice has been done consecutively from 2011-2018, through yearly event of a short term Indonesia-Japan student’s workshop “Sensible High DenCity”. The macro scale projects are more long term in practices and have been focused on renovation the existing public facilities. She also conducted research and academic activities sought to explore the character of local urban environment and the results have been published in some International Journals and Proceedings.
