Architecture and Disaster: This studio is the culmination of a semester’s worth of research and design by final year students of Universitas Indonesia’s Departmet of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering Universitas Indonesia

This theme became the basis of these twelve architecture undergraduates, who use ” disaster ” as a catalyst to explore their individual interests and potential.

Ranging from psychological disturbances to post-humanism consciousness, from a submerged Jakarta to fragments of the May 1998 riot, various definitions of “disaster” emerge through the works in the unified exhibition within their studio. Furthermore, the works show how architecture can be interpreted extensively as a trigger for further dialogue about collective issues within society in which we face together.
